BRIEF DESCRIPTION – Changing Tides is a mindfulness-based empowerment and sexual health program for adolescent girls. It is modeled after Go Grrrls!, a research-based pregnancy prevention program for 11-15 year old girls, effectively created to educate and empower them in a safe and fun setting. Through the Changing Tides program the girls who attend will walk away equipped with skills for building self-esteem, a positive body image, decision making, building healthy relationships, clear communication, and making their best choices for their reproductive health. In the safe container that we create together, the girls will develop skills for addressing issues of sexual health in ways that are non-judgmental, age-appropriate and mentally accurate.
Changing Tides is an 8-week long mindfulness-based empowerment and sexual health program for middle school aged girls. This program empowers girls to form healthy relationships with themselves and others while providing valuable information to continually support them through the transitions from adolescent to adult. This program is based off of Go Grrrls!, a research-based pregnancy prevention program for 11-15 year old girls, effectively created to educate and empower them in a safe and fun setting. Similarly, Changing Tides was designed to support young women during these critical years of self-development and change, meanwhile bringing additional tools of mindfulness, yoga, and self-care practices as enhanced offerings. It aims to help them develop a positive self-image, self-expression, and confidence in making choices that feel good to them. This program offers valuable information and skill-building through open discussions, group exercises, a take home workbook and other resources. Through the 8 week (16 hour) program, a foundation for lifelong success is built.

Changing Tides is designed so that girls to leave the program feeling strong, confident, and believing that they are phenomenal exactly the way they are!
Changing Tides can be descried to middle school aged girls as: A fun girls club, where all kinds of girls can express themselves, learn new skills, and have fun! Did we mention fun! 😉 We will explore many topics such as being a girl in today’s society, positive body image, positive thinking, making and keeping friends, solving problems, being assertive, romantic relationships, sex, and planning for the future. Changing Tides is a place to celebrate your fabulous self!

In the Fall of 2016 she took the Go Grrrls! facilitator training for empowering adolescent girls and educating them on reproductive health and choices. Since then, along with a team of women, she has developed the Changing Tides program which incorporates mindfulness, journaling, and yoga into the Go Grrrls! curriculum.
